Superintendent of Schools
The PIISD Board President, Diane O’Leary and the Board of Trustees have accepted my notice of retirement, effective February 28, 2019. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the Superintendent of PIISD for almost seven years. When I was hired in April of 2012, I made a commitment to the Board that PIISD would be my only Superintendence. I would serve to the best of my ability and retire from the District.
While I plan to retire from full-time public service, I will remain the greatest supporter of Public Education and a lifetime advocate, cheerleader, steward, and 110% supporter of Point Isabel ISD. Working alongside a dedicated Board, talented leadership, and amazing teachers has made my job so much more enjoyable. PIISD is blessed to have faculty and staff whose dedication and enthusiasm for education is unmatched. The District has made great progress in transforming the teaching and learning experience with innovative practices in spite of returning $16 – 17 million of revenue annually to the State in recapture. I encourage each of you to remain steadfast in the commitment to the relentless pursuit of meeting the evolving needs of each child we serve. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Team Tarpon and know that I will always treasure concluding my 31 years of full-time service in public education in Point Isabel ISD.
I have total confidence in the Board of Trustees to select a stellar candidate to continue to lead the District. I will remain a member of the Port Isabel community and a TARPON4ever!
